Ingredient: ancho chile (Capsicum Annum) - pronounced "Ahn-cho" Country of Origin: USA Ancho chile is the dried version of the poblano chili pepper which originates in the state of Puebla, Mexico, and is one of the most commonly used dried chile in authentic Mexican cuisine. The whole ancho pepper is heart shaped and about 7 - 10 mm long with a deep, reddish brown to black color. The flavor has been described as mildly fruity, sweet, slightly smoky with undertones of plum, raisin, tobacco and a slightly earthy bitterness.
